The Coasters were designed with a photography theme as I knew I would keep and use them if they were & because the idea of having coaster Polaroids inside a drawer of a polaroid camera box (that is placed where the photos would normally be dispensed) would be supper fun.

The coasters were etched into a red colored wood because it was the most exotic wood we had (other than the small piece of zebra wood) which contrasted well with my container. They are coated in a shiny waterproofing as polaroids are shiny & coasters need to be waterproof.
The entire box is left "naked" rather than painted to match the coasters & the style of my family's woodworking. We tend to create more natural looking work with just a natural stain to bring out the beautiful natural color of the wood. While I am not quite there, it is considered more professional in the family to leave things unpainted as it is harder to hide mistakes without paint. Edges must be perfectly cut and fit together properly without wood filler to look nice without a painted finish. This was my first attempt at creating a piece to fit that lineage.
